ADVANCED

TAIJUTSU

To-Shin Do guides practitioners through an immersion in each of the 5 elements of the Go-Dai (Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, and Void), allowing them to adapt to the specific context and chaos of real situations.

In a practitioner’s first 4-5 years of study (kyu ranks), they learn each element, one at a time, building knowledge and experience with the foundations of ninpo taijutsu: balance, distance, angle, timing, and flow.

After reaching Black Belt (dan ranks), practitioners re-trace their steps through the elements, starting again with Earth at Shodan—this time “putting it all together.” They learn how the elements interact, blend, and complement each other, unleashing creative, spontaneous, and perfectly appropriate responses to all kinds of attacks and attackers.

The Black Belt Conference takes participants on a journey through each black belt level of To-Shin Do, exploring the advanced principles of mind and movement in each of the elements AND how to weave them together so that you can:

MEET CHAOS WITH CONFIDENCE.

MEET YOUR FACILITATORS

SCOTT BRAGG

7th Degree, To-Shin Do

Dojo-cho, Orlando To-Shin Do Center

Dojo-cho, Boulder Quest Center

Scott Akitoshi Bragg’s command of taijutsu is equaled only by his skills as a presenter. Have you ever tried to learn from someone who is highly skilled in their work, but awful at teaching? As a professional emcee and DJ, Scott Bragg is a master of communication.

He connects with the audience like few others can, creating a dynamic learning experience that feels as though he custom tailored it just for you. His attention to detail is evident in the way he moves.

Scott’s training as a triathlete has given him extensive knowledge of physiology and posture, that he emphasizes in his teachings of kamae and natural, effective body movement. He can spot and help you adjust those tiny details that will lead to your next big breakthrough!

Engaged, energized, and educational—Akitoshi Bragg delivers the hidden principles of taijutsu like no other.

BRYAN GRIFFIN

7th Degree, To-Shin Do

Dojo-cho, Quest Martial Arts Raleigh

Dojo-cho, To-Shin Do Online

Spend time with warriors, the conversation is different. You wouldn’t know it looking at him, with his relaxed, easy-going smile, but Bryan Toutoshi Griffin is a dangerous fellow. A Marine Scout Sniper with combat experience in Iraq and Afghanistan, he’s been through it.

While most martial artists teach through theory or stories of warriors from long ago, Toutoshi Griffin teaches from first-hand experience.

But like others who have gained a healthy familiarity with their own mortality, Bryan chooses to enjoy each day. He reminds us that we learn best when we’re relaxed and having fun – that when we get out of our own way, we can achieve that fluid, effortless, and ghost-like ninja movement that we all strive for.

When you watch him teach, you may catch a glimpse of his ability to “flip the switch” and go from light-hearted to deadly-serious in an instant. A powerful skill indeed for real self-defense and survival!

PLUS OPPORTUNITIES TO HEAR FROM OTHER HIGHLY SKILLED INSTRUCTORS!
